The Wheel Experience

Get your hands dirty with a one time Potter's Wheel experience. For $30 you can make one piece under the guidance of The Clay Pot's Martin Talavera. This gives you a taste of the wheel and lets you see what it takes to make a pot.

The Clay Pot: Gift Certificates

A perfect gift for all those budding artists who want to get their hands dirty either by throwing clay on the potter's wheel, by learning handbuilding, or by painting unfinished pieces. Stop by the studio and ask about our Gift Certificates...

Welcome to the studio...

The Clay Pot is a unique pottery studio where Imagination and Creativity Come Together. We are a friendly, fun, and fully functional pottery studio offering classes and hosting of group events and parties. We welcome painting walk-ins, children and families, serious students, or just people who want to dive into the imaginative world of clay creation.

The Clay Pot is the dream of potter Martin Talavera and is a family run studio located in Spotswood, New Jersey. Our doors opened in 2008 and since that first day the studio has grown with the support of staff, students, and the local community. Our studio gift shop features finished pieces by Martin Talavera and resident artists. We also offer gift certificates for classes and lessons—a perfect birthday or holiday gift for all those budding artists out there. We do not currently offer phone or internet bookings.

Classes and more...

Whether it is wheel thrown, hand built, polymer clay, or painting unfinished original and handmade pieces, our experienced staff can assist you in bringing your ideas to life. We pride ourselves on handmade and original pieces and ideas.

From making simple spiral canes, to throwing clay on the potter’s wheel, to sculpture and freeform design, The Clay Pot has the right class for you. Walk-in pottery painting welcomed with no appointment necessary. All our prices are inclusive—there are never sitting or firing fees. All classes and lessons include tools, clay, glaze, and firing of finished pieces.
