The Studio - A Look Inside
Inside Our Studio...
The Clay Pot pottery studio is a unique and fully functional studio that has grown since its opening in November 2008. Under the guidance of our experienced potter Martin Talavera and staff, the Clay Pot opened with the idea of bringing the art of handmade and wheel thrown pottery to the public. People of all ages come to our studio to experience the thrill of being creative and turning a lump of clay into a fantastic piece of art. We offer lessons and classes that cover all skills and all levels and we inspire and guide our students from beginner through to advanced classes. Some of our students have been with us since our opening year and continue to advance.
Our wheel throwing lessons are one-on-one with Martin and start by teaching you the basics. However, if this is not your thing we also offer handbuilding classes—check our calendar for upcoming registration dates. Or maybe you would like to show off your artistic talents by painting unfinished pieces. Visit us during studio hours and choose from a selection of handmade items from our shelves. All of our glazes are lead free and food safe. We will give you basic instruction on applying your glazes. Our prices are all inclusive. No sitting fee. No firing fee.
Painting walk-ins are always welcome during studio hours. We have a nice selection of unfinished pieces for you to choose from, bowls, mugs, vases, plaques, holiday items, and more!
Gift Shop and Group Events
Our studio gift shop offers a nice selection of art pieces to choose from. Martin Talavera and resident artists craft all pieces in our studio; check out some of our pieces displayed in our Studio Gallery. We do not currently offer online ordering of our pieces or gift certificates.
The Clay Pot hosts painting parties and group events as well. Stop by the studio to book a date for your event. Find out more about parties and group events.
Do you have a special order? Want to save that special memory on a one-of-a-kind art piece? Want to put your baby's footprints on a handmade plates or replicate your business's brand or business card replicated on one of our pieces? Find out more.
